Hello and welcome to our website. The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. Our chapter serves Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester Counties of coastal South Carolina.
On our website you will find information on civic participation, public transportation, regional planning, public health, criminal justice, public education financing, and green buildings.
You can also learn about the League's history, its directors, and its guiding principles. The League is known and respected for its positions on issues, which are developed after careful study and consensus by its members. It is the League's policy not to endorse nor oppose candidates for office.
You can also learn about the League's activities, including its Observers' Corps and its Speakers' Bureau, and read our newsletter. We hope you are inspired by the work the League is doing in the Charleston area. We invite you to join us in our efforts, or make a donation in support of them.
